Fog disrupts flights operation

LAHORE: As many as 25 flights were canceled while five were diverted to alternative airports due to fog on Friday.

According to aviation sources, 355 flights of Pakistani airports have been canceled in 11 days. PIA flight PK 840 from Jeddah to Multan landed in Lahore and four PIA flights to Sharjah, Dubai, Jeddah and Abu Dhabi landed in Islamabad. Seven flights from Sharjah, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Jeddah to Peshawar were cancelled and four flights from Islamabad to Gilgit and Karachi were also cancelled. Apart from this, 11 flights from Karachi to Sukkur, Peshawar, Lahore, Sharjah and Jeddah were cancelled.

Three flights of the Naji Air between Multan and Dubai and Jeddah were cancelled. Several flights were delayed due to fog at the Lahore airport. According to the sources, the PIA flight PK 235 to Dubai was delayed for two hours and the Emirates flight EK 623 to Dubai was delayed. The Air Sial’s Muscat-bound flight PF 736 was delayed. The Air Sial’s flight PF 716 to Jeddah was also delayed because of fog. The Thai Air flight TG 346 to Bangkok faced delay at the Lahore airport.
