LAHORE:Punjab Agriculture Department has taken strict action against 303 dealers for overcharging of fertilizers in the first week of this month.
In addition, 155 dealers who sold fertilizers at higher prices have been fined more than Rs3.441 million and 3,279 bags of fertilizers have been confiscated. According to spokesperson of the department, strict measures are being taken to ensure the supply of quality fertilizers to farmers at fixed rates.
He said that exploitation of farmers will not be tolerated under any circumstances. In this regard, the teams of the Agriculture Department are fully active to ensure the supply of fertilizers at the prescribed rates under the supervision of Punjab Agriculture Secretary Nadir Chattha. They are following a zero tolerance policy against those involved in the sale of fertilizers at increased price.
The spokesperson further said that complaints against those who are involved in price hike and black marketing can be lodged with the relevant Assistant Director, Deputy Director or Director Agriculture (Extension). Apart from it, the farmers can also contact on Punjab Agriculture Helpline 0800-17000 from Monday to Saturday from 8.00am to 8.00pm for lodging their complaints and the department will take immediate action on receiving the complaint.
