Addressing a press conference on Wednesday along with the PPP’s media coordinator Nazir Dhoki, Senator Shahadat Awan and Senator Palwasha Khan said PPP has started its election campaign while the other contenders are sitting in their drawing rooms as they are afraid to face the people.

Senator Palwasha Khan said that some people wanted to postpone the elections but PPP wanted fair and transparent elections on February 8. “We have confidence in the Election Commission as the era after the February 8 belongs to the PPP,” she said.

Without naming any political party, Palwasha Khan said the party, which does not understand the problems of the country, is being facilitated to come to power, adding the country is no longer able to bear the burden of another “Ladla”.

“The free, fair and transparent elections are the solution to all problems,” she added.

“The political parties, which do not want elections, should tell openly what they want,” said Palwasha, adding “a political party does not want to come out from Lahore but summons people from Sindh to the drawing room.”

Recalling the projects launched during her party’s government, Palwasha said PPP started Benazir Income Support Program, rehabilitation of Swat operation victims, Pak-Iran Gas Pipeline, Gwadar Port, CPEC and NFC.

She said PPP will abolish the political hatred that has been injected into the politics. “Providing employment to the people and providing a roof is the first priority of PPP,” the PPP leader said.

Senator Shahdat Awan said according to the Constitution and the law, it is necessary to hold elections in a timely manner. “There is no need for anyone to be disappointed as only those people want to run away from the elections who do not see any way out,” he said.
