Zero tolerance for corruption within NAB: Chairman
ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau initiated disciplinary proceedings against its 83 officials during last two and a half years of which 60 cases were finalised.
It included 22 major penalties, 34 minor penalties and four exonerations.NAB Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry was briefed on the issue during a meeting held on Wednesday to review the progress on implementation of internal accountability mechanism.
During the meeting, the chairman reiterated his resolve to continue the policy of zero tolerance for corruption within the NAB. At the same time, he encouraged the officers to perform their duties without any fear of negative propaganda campaigns launched by vested interests.
Chaudhry said in order to be able to hold others accountable, the NAB would have to put its own act together to serve as a role model. He said periodic performance reviews and case analysis serves as a corrective as well as educative platform by indentifying acts of omission and commission.
