ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Registrar Office has raised objections over a petition seeking resignation of the prime minister after holding referendum, due to the names of prime minister’s family members in Panama Papers.
The IHC Registrar Office raised objections that the petitioner has no ‘locus standi’ or a directly aggrieved person. An IHC bench will hear this petition as objection case. Petitioner Qaiser Jadoon nominated federal government as respondent adopted before the court that Pakistan’s economy has been suffering due to the pilferage of money offshore.
Separately, in another case, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani of the IHC dismissed a bail application of a cheque dishonor accused Ehsanul Haq who was later arrested by Islamabad police from the court premises.
Ehsanul Haq is an accused of 44 million rupees that he took from Saad as a loan with written guarantee and bank cheques. When Saad tried to withdraw the money through these cheques, these were bounced, his counsel told the court. Ehsanul Haq had applied for bail before arrest that was dismissed.
