Missing person case: SC rejects defence ministry’s report
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Tuesday rejected the report submitted by defence ministry regarding a missing person resident of Swat’s Matta area.
The court directed the Attorney General for Pakistan to submit report after getting information from all relevant institutions. The three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and comprising Justice Amir Hani Muslim and Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rehman heard the case filed by a missing person’s wife.
During the course of proceedings, deputy attorney general submitted defence ministry report and stated that ministry could not find any information regarding missing person. However, the court rejected the report after reviewing it.
Additional Advocate General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also submitted report and stated that Zakariya the missing person was released on bail from Swat jail in a murder case on July 30, 2011. The counsel for the petitioner told the court that army men arrested Zakariya on September 8, 2012. The court directed the AGP to submit report and adjourned the hearing of the case till first week of May.
