Lift the haze

Lahore continues to grapple with pervasive smog, as it does every winter nowadays. The dense haze, primarily caused by vehicular emissions and industrial pollutants, poses severe health risks to the city’s residents. Exposure to smog has been linked to respiratory ailments, exacerbating conditions like asthma and bronchitis. Fine particulate matter, prevalent in smog, also infiltrates the lungs and can lead to long-term health complications.

The elderly and children are particularly vulnerable, with higher chances of respiratory infections. Moreover, smog has been associated with cardiovascular issues as pollutants can enter the bloodstream. Prolonged exposure may contribute to a higher incidence of strokes and heart attacks. As the city endures this environmental crisis, urgent measures are imperative. Stringent emission controls, green initiatives, and public awareness campaigns can mitigate smog, fostering a healthier future for the people of Lahore.
