Cantt railway police recover citizen’s lost valuables within hours

The Cantt railway police recovered within hours cash and other valuables that a citizen had lost at the Cantt Station on Tuesday night.

Police said a sum of Rs51,000, a cheque of Rs200,000 and some necessary documents had fallen from the pocket of a person, who had come to drop his friend at the Cantt Station.

After the citizen informed police of his loss, night duty officer ASI Shahzad Nazir inspected the place where the citizen had lost his valuables and then checked the place with the help of CCTV footage.

The CCTV footage showed that an envelope of the citizen, Falakzeb, son of Aurangzeb, had fallen while he was getting out of his vehicle. The envelop was picked up by a person sitting in a vehicle parked next to him. The affected person waited at the station for a long time, but nobody turned up with his belongings.

The duty officer took timely action and traced, with the help of the vehicle’s registration number, the mobile number of the person who had taken away the envelop. When contacted during the night, Waleed Khan, son of Javed Iqbal, said he had a number of envelopes in his possession and he eagerly wanted to return them. Khan was told to hand over the envelope to the owner, was then at the police station.

Falakzeb and Waleed Khan, came to the police station at the Cantt Station on Wednesday morning. Khan returned the envelope to the owner in the presence of ASI Shahzad Nazir.

Fire damages warehouse

A fire damaged at a decoration warehouse near the Korangi driving licence branch in Mehran Town on Wednesday.

After getting information, the fire brigade department immediately dispatched three fire tenders to the warehouse to put out the blaze. According to the fire brigade spokesperson, the fire broke out in decoration items used for weddings and other events. In the warehouse, there were various goods, including wood, iron, cloth, and dye colours. The fire broke out at around 9:30am while the firefighters put out the blaze after the hectic efforts of three hours.

Luckily, no loss of life was reported while the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Police also reached the property and inquired about the incident. They said they were waiting for the fire brigade department’s report about the cause of the fire, while preliminary investigations did not find any criminal act.
