PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub has congratulated Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Chaudhry Parvez Elahi on their reappointments as PTI vice chairman and president respectively.

Meanwhile, the PTI strongly reacted to the ‘organised attempts’ to unconstitutionally and unlawfully postpone the elections fixed for February 8, demanding that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) ensure free, fair and transparent polls instead of wasting time on the pleas seeking polls delay.

A PTI spokesperson said that those creating obstacles in conducting the elections were the worst enemies of the country. He contended that it was a dangerous plan to deprive Pakistan of its Constitution and plunge the country into political instability; hence PTI rejected outright the organized efforts to postpone the elections.

Omar Ayub lashed out at the caretaker government for dropping another ‘bomb of inflation’ by jacking up the power tariff by Rs3.08 per unit. “Electricity price is now effectively approx Rs85 per unit. The people of Pakistan should reject these parties who have decimated the economy, brought back-breaking inflation and increased electricity and gas prices to unprecedented levels,” Omar maintained.

The PTI secretary general reiterated that the only solution to steer the country through the current situation was to vote for PTI in the February 8, 2024 elections.
