TIMERGARA: Awami National Party (ANP) leader Aimal Wali on Tuesday demanded that the holding of the next general election should be ensured on the announced date.
Addressing a convention of party workers in provincial assembly constituency PK-14, he said that democracy, parliament and public mandate had been ridiculed, adding that delaying the election further would deepen the problems facing the country. He said that people like Pervez Khattak always comprised on his principles and had no political ideology.
The ANP leader said that his party was kept outside the parliament during the 2018 and 2013 general elections for introducing the 18th Amendment. “Our journey was blocked through suicide attacks and closing down the RTS (Result Transmission System), he said. Imran Khan was imposed on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as he was least bothered about the rights of the Pakhtuns, he added. He said that the wheel of development was stopped by installing the PTI government in KP, he said. “A full stop was put to the progress of KP,” he said.
The ANP leader said that changing the 18th Amendment would prove the last nail in Pakistan’s coffin. The Pakhtuns, he said, were deceived in the name of Islam. The resources of the Pakhtuns were usurped in the name of war against terrorism, he said.
