MARDAN: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader and former speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser was rearrested after securing bail from the district and sessions court in Mardan on Saturday.
The Charsadda police arrested him on November 24 in connection with the May 9 mayhem.
On Saturday, the district and sessions court in Mardan granted him bail in the May 9 case against surety bonds of Rs100,000.
However, following his release from the central prison, Mardan police rearrested him, citing his suspected involvement in the 9th and 10th May incidents.
It may be noted that Asad Qaiser, who is accused of corruption in the procurement of equipment for Gajju Khan Medical College, was arrested from Banigala in Islamabad on November 3.
The Anti-Corruption Establishment had booked Asad Qaiser for his alleged corruption in the purchase of medical equipment for the Gajju Khan Medical College, Swabi. Later, the Charsadda police arrested him over the May 9 attacks. The DSJ granted him bail in the May 9 case, however, Mardan police arrested him in a case registered against him at the City Police Station in connection with the May 9 incidents. The police shifted him to the City Police Station from the Central Prison, Mardan.
