Term BoK scam proof of deteriorating situation

NOWSHERA: The Awami National Party (ANP) leaders on Saturday said the policies of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led provincial government were against the interests of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Talking to reporters here, ANP General Secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain and Provincial President Ameer Haider Hoti said the province was facing serious management crisis.

They alleged that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was being run from Bani Gala in Islamabad.

“The interest of the province is at stake. The situation is getting from bad to worse with the passage of time,” said Haider Hoti.

He said the recent Bank of Khyber scandal was an example of the deteriorating situation of affairs in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He alleged that the provincial finance minister carried out illegal recruitment in the bank and broken all the precious records of misuse of power.

He added that the PTI cannot dissociate itself from the issue and hide behind the mere excuse that the minister didn’t belong to the party. “He (Muzaffar Said) did all this in capacity of the finance minister. His party (Jamaat-i-Islami) is the coalition partner of the PTI,” he added.

Criticising the chief minister for what he called use of indecent language against officials of various government departments, Mian Iftikhar said the chief minister was abusing police and officers of other departments.

He said the police force rendered tremendous sacrifices in war against terrorism and the insulting remarks about it was discouraging and demoralising the force.

He added that the status of PTI government was not of that of owner but more likely of a tenant who lives in a rented house and didn’t care for it and its maintenance.

“That’s why the rights and interest of the province are at stake,” he added.

About the Panama Leaks, he said more people would be exposed in the coming days. He said the allegations in the Panama Leaks against the politicians and other people should be investigated on merit.

On the occasion, several councillors of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz announced joining the ANP.
