PFA conducts audit of campuses’ canteens
LAHORE: Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Monday sent the food audit report of 67 universities’ hostel mess, canteens and cafeterias to the respective vice-chancellors (VCs).
PFA Director General Raja Jahangir Anwar said that the food authority gave a deadline of a week to 197 food points to rectify the issues, bring improvement and follow the Punjab Pure
Food Regulations; otherwise, their food licence would be cancelled as per law.
He said that the checking of food points would be done again after the deadline given for improving the quality. He said that food safety teams had thoroughly examined the food safety standards and quality parameters during the recent inspection drive.
LWMC increases road washing activities
In a dedicated effort to combat smog, the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) continued mechanical sweeping, scraping, and washing operations.
The LWMC's enforcement wing actively participated enhancing the impact of this city-wide effort, claimed a press release issued by the company here Monday. CEO Babar Sahib Din underscored the initiative's significance, emphasising the dual-shift approach to protect citizens from smog's adverse effects. Special scraping activities, accompanied by water spraying, are under way at city entrances and exits. Meticulous attention was given to pedestrian bridges and sidewalks along roadsides, ensuring a holistic approach to cleanliness.
LWMC spokesperson highlighted the team's commitment to a clean environment, citing washing activities on prominent roads like Quaid-i-Azam Road, GOR Road, and Queens Road.
Daily washing operations continued on key thoroughfares such as Jail Road, Mall Road, Canal Road, Gulberg Main Boulevard, and the surrounding areas, he said, adding CEO Babar Sahib Din urged citizen cooperation, emphasising adherence to the Local Government Act to avoid legal consequences.
