Finance Dept to release funds for police gallantry medals
PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police authorities and Finance Department have taken up the issue of immediate release of funds to prepare gallantry medals for the cops.
A number of police officers and jawans from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said recently they were yet to receive their gallantry medals after the relevant department was not paid funds for preparation of medals.
They were nominated for the medals in the past years for exhibiting bravery.
“Senior police officials talked to the bosses of the Finance Department and they have agreed to release the funds in a day or two,” an official told The News.
He added that this had happened for the first time that the province was asked to provide funds for the medals.
“The formalities took some time as there was no precedent of provinces providing funds for the purpose. We received the letter on September 28 and we forwarded it to the Finance Department via the Home Department on October 12,” said an official. He said the delay was not from the KP Police or Finance Department and the matter would be resolved in a couple of days.
