Rashid tames Hameed for Masters Tennis title
ISLAMABAD: Rashid Malik beat Hameedul Haq in a tough final to win the 60 plus singles in Masters Tennis at Royal Cliff Resort, Pattaya Thailand.
Dodging the extreme heat. Rashid won 6-7, 6-1, 3-0(Ret. Hurt). Both players broke each other’s serve in the first set with strong rallies and finishing shots. This match was witnessed and enjoyed by a sizeable crowd.
At the conclusion of the match, Manager, Royal Cliff Hotels presented both players with trophies and certificates. The owner of Royal Cliff Hotels and Group, Mr Gap was pleased to meet the Pakistani players’ delegation and invited them for future ITF tennis tournaments at this hotel facilities. Earlier, Rashid and Hameed beat David Eckley (USA) and Hakan Gustafsson (Sweden) 6-3, 6-2 to win the 60+ ITF Master doubles Championship. Former Davis Cup players of yesteryears kept Pakistan’s veteran tennis alive.
