PESHAWAR: The lawyers here on Wednesday boycotted the court proceedings to protest the arrest of their colleague. The lawyers observed the strike on the call of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council. They stayed away from legal proceedings and did not appear before the courts in the provincial capital.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council Vice-Chairman Zarbadshah Khan condemned the arrest of Zia-ur-Rahman Fafrooqi belonging to Peshawar. Terming the arrest illegal, he demanded that the arrested lawyer be released forthwith. He said that the lawyers in Charsadda, Mardan, Nowshera, Swabi, Kohat, Hangu and other parts of the province were recording their protest by boycotting the court proceedings.
