FPCCI opposes Customs Act extension
PESHAWAR: The Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) sought withdrawal of the implementation of Customs Act 1969 in Malakand division.Talking to the delegation of the traders, FPCCI Vice-President Muhammad Riaz Khattak rejected the decision of the government to implement the Customs Act in Malakand division. The Malakand businessmen delegation was headed by Shahidur Rehman. They discussed issues related to the extension and implementation of the Customs Act 1969 to the Malakand division.
Muhammad Riaz Khattak rejected the decision of the federal government to implement the Customs Act and asked the government to withdraw the notification to this effect not to implement the act in Malakand division.
He said that Malakand division remained the worst-hit region in the on-going wave of terrorism and militancy and the implementation of the Customs Act further raise poverty level in the Malakand division. They demanded the government to withdraw the notification to end unrest among the people of division.
