Qatar to help Pakistan overcome energy crisis

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday met the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha and agreed to promote Pak-Qatar relations and cooperation in the economic and trade sectors.Sheikh Hamad assured the Punjab CM that Qatar would invest in various sectors of national development in Pakistan and extend all-out cooperation to cope with the energy crisis.
“Pakistan is a friendly country and its development and prosperity is very dear to Qatar. Qatar fully realizes the problems of Pakistan and will extend full support in overcoming these problems,” he promised.
The Emir said besides meeting the gas requirements of Pakistan, Qatar will also continue its cooperation in the agriculture, power generation and manpower sector. He said Qatar fully appreciated the recent efforts of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for the strengthening of Pak-Qatar friendship and a positive impact of cooperation on economic and trade sectors due to these sincere efforts was being witnessed. He said trade and economic relations between the two countries will further strengthen in future.
He said Qatar was fully aware of Pakistan’s importance and role in the region and the government, the leadership and the people of Qatar want to see Pakistan a developed and prosperous country as its stability was the stability of Qatar.
Shahbaz Sharif said Qatar was extending invaluable cooperation to Pakistan to overcome the energy crisis and expressed the hope that Pakistan would be able to get rid of loadshedding with the cooperation of friendly countries. He said there were vast opportunities for investment in Pakistan, especially the Punjab.
He said the government was providing maximum facilities to foreign investors on a priority basis and investors of Qatar could benefit from the investment opportunities in various sectors in the Punjab. Federal Minister for Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and spokesman for the PM Mussadiq Malik were also present on the occasion.
