‘Work on garbage transfer stations to start this month’
Karachi
The construction work of three garbage transfer stations would commence this month in Karachi, said Managing Director of the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) Roshan Ali Shaikh on Sunday.
According to him, the sites for the garbage transfer stations have been selected and separate stations would be set up for the shifting of domestic, industrial and hospital garbage from Landhi and Korangi areas.
He said the sites for these stations had also been chosen in Sector 26 of the Korangi Sharafi Goth and Sector 52 of the Korangi area.
Shaikh, who is also the city administrator, directed the relevant officials to remove encroachments immediately from the Korangi Crossing to the Quaidabad Korangi Road and the other parts of the city, including the University Road.
