Rape victim found dumped in DHA

A rape victim who was found abandoned in an empty plot in Phase VI of the Defence Housing Authority on Sunday evening, passed away during treatment at a private hospital later in the day.

Officials of the Darakshan police identified the victim as 25-year-old Zahida Bibi, and said she was found in a critical state in an empty plot on Khayaban-e-Bukhari after a passerby informed the police.

She was rushed to a private hospital for medical attention but passed away during treatment, after which the body was shifted to the JPMC for legal formalities.

A female MLO there confirmed the sexual assault and said her body also bore marks of torture. She added that the perpetrators had attempted to strangle the victim to death.

Police officials maintained that, while they were initially taking her to the hospital, the victim had told them her name and that she worked at a house in the vicinity. She had also evidently informed the police of her residence in Haji Ali Bukhsh Goth in Sachal Town.

Investigators said they were looking into several possibilities at the moment and would share further details of the case down the line.

Woman raped, killed

A young woman was raped and murdered allegedly by a cousin claimed to be her love interest at his house situated in Saudabad, Malir, on Sunday.

The body of 22-year-old Rehana, wife of Abdul Majeed, was found from the house of Muhammad Rabi by her family members, claimed SHO Khokrapar police station Shahjahan Lashari; her three-year-old daughter was found in an unconscious condition.

The deceased and her daughter, Mahnoor, were said to have been dropped off by the woman’s brother, Kashif, near her residence - also situated in Khokrapar – after he had taken them to a doctor.

However, she apparently did not go to her house but went to see Rabi.

According to the medico-legal officer of the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) the woman was raped before being stabbed to death.

The accused had, however, managed to escape.

Suicide

A woman committed suicide insider her residence situated in Orangi Town, Sector 4/F after a quarrel with her husband, police officials claimed.

According to SHO Mominabad Shabbir Khattak, 22-year-old Kiran, wife of Riaz Ahmed, locked herself in a room and shot herself with her husband’s licensed gun.

She was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in a critical condition where she died during treatment. 

The SHO claimed the couple had gotten married five months ago.

However, the police did not rule out the possibility of the woman being murdered by her husband; the weapon was seized.
