ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Friday that unnecessary changes and irregularities were committed in the Master Plan of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) due to negligence of previous governments.
Chairing a high-level meeting here, the minister said residents and administration of Islamabad are facing various problems due to irregularities in the Master Plan. The meeting was attended among others by Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, secretary interior, chairman CDA, commissioner, deputy commissioner and inspector general of Islamabad Police.
The minister said utmost efforts were being made to shift private schools from residential areas at the earliest in the light of the Supreme Court's directives and in consultation with all stakeholders, keeping in view difficulties of students, parents and schools' administration. The meeting reviewed different options of shifting private schools from residential areas of the capital.
The CDA chairman briefed the interior minister that the court's directives were applicable on more than 350 schools where over 90,000 students were studying. Nisar directed Dr Tariq Fazl to form a committee to prepare comprehensive recommendations with regard to giving government plots to private schools, besides devising a transparent mechanism and clear timeline for the purpose. The committee would submit its recommendations within a week.
