OICCI members assured of tax refunds

KARACHI: Punjab Governor Malik M Rafique Rajwana has assured Overseas Investors’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) of taking up the issue of tax refunds with the relevant authorities, and declared it the main reason of the liquidity crisis.

He shared these views while visiting Overseas Investors’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry  on Tuesday while accompanies by Senator Saleem Zia.

Terming the positive sentiments of the Overseas Investors’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry  members in the surveys encouraging for the government, he assured the Overseas Investors’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry  of the government's wholehearted support in removing all the impediments to make Pakistan an investment destination.

He appreciated the contribution of multinational companies towards the national exchequer and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for addressing health and education related needs of the local communities.

Overseas Investors’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry  President Shahab Rizvi stressed the need for regulators to move towards regulatory oversight from the current 100 percent control environment for a more conducive business environment.

Kimihide Ando, Member, Managing Committee, Overseas Investors’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry  suggested that Pakistan should allow mobile phones to be used by visiting Indian businessmen which would be seen as a positive message for doing business.

Abdul Aleem, Secretary General, presented the profile and contribution of the Overseas Investors’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry  and shared some results of the recent Overseas Investors’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry  sponsored Business Confidence Survey and Overseas Investors’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry  members Perception and Investment Survey 2015, which were recently released after being shared with the prime minister of Pakistan. 

He also highlighted a few issues of the foreign investors, including three different bodies/authorities for revenue collection in the Punjab province, counterfeiting and infringement of intellectual property rights, gaps in policy implementation, etc.

He also appreciated the improvement in the country’s security, law and order situation and enhanced focus and commitment in the area of energy and power.
