LANDIKOTAL: Inspector General Frontier Corps (IGFC) Maj Gen Shaheen Khattak visited the Torkham border to inspect security arrangements, official sources said on Monday.
Assistant Political Agent of Landikotal Muhammad Nasir Khan told The News that the IGFC met the officials and discussed issues related to border security. He was also briefed about the trade and commerce activities taking place at the Torkham border.
Maj Gen Shaheen Khattak inspected various government offices, including those of the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra), Customs and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
He directed the relevant officials to ensure free and fair service delivery.
The IGFC checked several security checkpoints established along the Torkham border. He talked to the border security personnel.
Shaheen Khattak stressed swift registration of the Afghan and Pakistani citizens frequently crossing the Pak-Afghan border.
The IGFC told the Torkham authorities to systematically streamline heavy traffic from and to Afghanistan to enhance trade and business relations with Afghanistan and the Central Asian States. Several civil and military officials were also present on the occasion.
