NEW YORK: Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan recently opened up about speculations that she was converting to Islam, stating that after she demonstrated an interest in Islam, she felt scared returning to the United States were Trump had banned immigrants from predominantly seven Muslim countries from entering the USA.

During a Facebook Live session, Lohan stated that she had been showing an interest in Islam and had been studying the Holy Quran for quite sometime. She referred to Islam as a 'beautiful' religion and said that she was a spiritual person.

"I’ve studied the Quran for quite some time. It’s a process to convert to anything. I respect all religions… it’s a beautiful religion and I am a very spiritual person… it’s something I’ve been studying," she said.

The actress however, ruled out that she had converted to Islam, stating that, 'You can’t just convert overnight to a religion'.

After Trump signed executive orders to ban immigrants from seven predominantly Muslim countries, which triggered protests across the United States and the rest of the world, Lohan admitted she had her doubts about returning to her country owing to her 'personal beliefs'.

"I was scared to come here with everything going on because of my personal beliefs."

The Mean Girls star pressed on the need for unity and urged people to join President Trump. She said that it was better to go by the policy of 'If you can't beat him, join him' on the issue of Donald Trump.

She also urged the President of the United States of America to undertake a visit to Turkey and see for himself the worsening situation of refugees who had fled from the war in their countries to take up residence in tents elsewhere.

"I want to try to get the word out to Donald Trump bring him over there [to the refugee camps in Turkey] have him see all the positive things they are doing over there and all America can do to help as well," she said.
