Carly Simon marks her return to music with 'Howl' release after decades
Carly Simon is working on her forthcoming album 'Comes in Waves'
Carly Simon is set to mark her return to the music world with the release of a new album in eighteen years.
The 82-year-old American musician and singer-songwriter will drop her first album of original songs, titled Comes in Waves.
On June 12, 2026, Simon dropped the lead single Howl from the album, which is “a stirring folk-pop anthem that sees her weaving through a rollercoaster of emotions.”
Articulating her thoughts about the song, she told PEOPLE magazine, "'Howl' lives in that space between betrayal and forgiveness, where anger has to be voiced before it can be released.”
“It's about letting the frustration out so it doesn't sit and simmer. The song begins in anger, but it moves toward forgiveness, and speaks to any situation where trust has been broken,” the Moonlight Serenade songstress explained.
Simon sings in the chorus, "Howl like the wind / Roar like the river / Wail like the rain / Cry, shout and shiver / Shake like a dog / Hiss like the fire / Scratch at the moon / Call love a liar.”
For those unaware, her last album, This Kind of Love, was released in April 2008.
It is pertinent to mention that Carly Simon’s new album, Comes in Waves, has twelve songs, which will be out on August 14, 2026.
