James Gunn has announced that the upcoming DC project, which will initiate a new cinematic universe and was previously titled Superman: Legacy, has kicked off principal photography after script wrap-up, and will be now called Superman.
"Overjoyed to be announcing the start of principal photography on SUPERMAN today, February 29, which just so happens to be -- coincidentally and unplanned -- Superman’s birthday," the famous director announced in an Instagram post Thursday.
"When I finished the first draft of the script, I called the film Superman: Legacy. By the time I locked the final draft, it was clear the title was SUPERMAN. Making our way to you July 2025."
Additionally, Gunn also hinted at a close-up look at Superman's costume with a leathery "S" symbol being the picture shared in the post.
The reveal comes as the first major update on Superman. After Nathan Fillon, slated to play Green Lantern Guy Gardener in the movie, revealed earlier this month at the Television Critics Association that the team will have their first table read in about a month, as per Entertainment Tonight.
