LAHORE

The newly-established special squad of Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) comprised of sanitary workers and supervisors is redressing citizens’ waste related concerns on daily basis. Starting from various dilapidated areas of Nishter Town, it has resolved waste related issues in many areas of Samanabad Town and Allama Iqbal Town launching cleanup and awareness drives there in close coordination with local MPA Waheed Gull, local union councils Chairmen and LWMC staff of the areas concerned.

Special Squad has cleared 50 heaps of waste removing more than 100 ton garbage. Local MPA Waheed Gull, Chairman Local Union Council Mian Manzoor Hussain, Vice-Chairmen Malik Arshad Awan attended the drive along with operational management of LWMC.

According to local community, LWMC drive comprised of clearance of open heaps from plots, setting up of camps to register and redress waste related complaints, public briefing and distribution of leaflets during door to door activity is helping us to resolve our issues but there is need to continue this practice in future as well. We appreciate the LWMC initiative of constituting special squad to redress our concerns.
