Anti-polio drive to begin in 188 UCs from Oct 24
The next anti polio drive in the metropolis would be carried out from October 24 in all 188 union councils of the city, announced city commissioner in a meeting on Wednesday.
The announcement was made, by Ejaz Ahmed Khan, in a meeting held to review the results and impacts of the six-day anti polio campaign that concluded on October 6.
A detailed briefing was given on the occasion whereas the meeting’s participants expressed satisfaction over the results of the previous campaign.
It was decided that the next anti-polio drive would be conducted from October 24. It would be carried out in all 188 union councils of the metropolis in which over 2.3 million children would be administered the vaccine.
The commissioner claimed that elimination of the crippling virus was a national objective, and appealed to parents to extend full support in order to safeguard the future of their children.
The meeting was also attended by Sindh Health Secretary Muhammad Usman Chachar, provincial coordinator of the Oversight Committee Shahnaz Wazir Ali, town health officers Fayyaz Ali Jatoi Dr Nusrat Ali and representatives of World Health Organization and UNICEF.
