Baldia police encounter: victims died from gunshots

  KARACHI: Three most wanted terrorists, belonging to a banned outfit, blew themselves up after police raided a house at Baldia Town here on Friday.

According to sources, police raided the area after getting a tip-off from an alleged terrorist that his three accomplices were hiding in a home in Sector-A of the Baldia Town.

They hurled five hand grenades at the police before blowing themselves up with explosives.

CCPO Karachi Wasim Ahmed confirmed that three terrorists were killed and one of them blew himself up during raid while an abducted transporter, Shaukat Afridi was also killed in suicide blast.

However, according to sources, all the persons have been shot at point-blank range. The doctors who performed the post-mortem, said that all died of gunshots. The body of abducted transporter, Shaukat Afridi bore bullet wounds in chest and neck. While, an alleged terrorist killed during encounter apparently seems a ‘Bengali’ and the other two ‘Pashtoon’.

The police said that these terrorists belong to a banned militant outfit; however, the bodies of alleged militants lying at civil hospital are yet to be identified. The alleged police encounter ended at a time when Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani’s plane landed at Karachi airport.
