Saaf Pani project launched in S Punjab: CM

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that implementation of Saaf Pani Project has been started in South Punjab and billions of rupees will be spent on this project during next two and a half years. He said that rural population of more than 40 million would benefit from this project. He said that billions of rupees were misappropriated during dictatorial era in the name of supply of drinking water and installation of water filtration plants whereas Saaf Pani Project would be an example of quality and transparency like other projects of the Punjab government.
The chief minister expressed these views while addressing a meeting at Civil Secretariat through a video link, which reviewed progress on Saaf Pani Project. He said that availability of potable water was the basic right of every citizen, an important step in the provision of healthy facilities to the citizens and would help to control the water-borne diseases.
Iqbal Park: Shahbaz Sharif presided over a meeting which reviewed various matters regarding Greater Iqbal Project. Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that Pakistan was achieved after supreme sacrifices under the dynamic leadership of Quaid-e-Azam. It is a national responsibility to apprise the young generation of the sacrifices of the national heroes during struggle for independence and Greater Iqbal Project is of vital importance in this regard. He said that this Greater Iqbal Project is the first and a unique project of Asia regarding history.
According to a handout issued here Friday, Shahbaz Sharif said that under this project, a history museum would also be set up regarding Pakistan Movement while a gallery for national heroes would also be established where their pictures would be displayed. He said that special programmes would be arranged for highlighting the aims and objectives of Pakistan Movement. He said that storyteller bench would also be a part of Greater Iqbal Project.
He directed that setting up of audio-video centre regarding struggle for creation of Pakistan should also be considered and final recommendations be presented after completion of planning for this purpose.
Chinese envoy: Chinese Consul General in Lahore Yu Boren has said that the Punjab government has maintained a high standard and carried out construction work on Orange Line Metro Train Project speedily.
He said that he was pleased to see the quality and speed of implementation of the project. He said that due to the personal interest taken by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Orange Line Metro Train Project had been furthered expeditiously. He said that speed at which Orange Line Metro Train Project was being implemented in Lahore was also unprecedented in China.
He congratulated Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on the speedy implementation of this splendid project. He said that with the completion of the project, modern, speedy and economical transport facilities would become available to citizens.
MPs: Shahbaz Sharif has said that the Punjab government is strictly pursuing the policy of transparency in development projects. He said that corruption-free culture has been promoted in the province. He said that the development projects completed with high standard, transparency and fast speed are unprecedented.
The chief minister said that no one could level allegation of corruption of even a single penny against us. He said that people were benefiting from completion of mega projects. He vowed that the journey of public service and development would continue under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
