Public school managements asked to purchase sub-machine guns within a week

The District Coordination Officer (DCO) has imposed emergency related to security arrangements for government schools here in Rawalpindi district. The local management has issued a notification in this regard and ordered government schools managements to purchase Sub Machine Guns (SMG) within a week.

The SMG will be provided to high schools in category of ‘A’ and ‘A’ plus.

Every government school has deposited Rs7,000 through District Coordination Officer (DCO), Rawalpindi, account as arm licence fee here on Wednesday. The District Coordination Officer (DCO) Sajid Zafar Daal through a notification ordered government schools managements to arrange for Rs1,10,000 to purchase a Sub Machine Guns (SMGs).

According to notification, SMGs will be purchased after collections of total amount from all schools in the district. The local management will purchase guns from POF Wah.

According to DCO notification, money will be returned back to all employees after budget approval. But, this time school managements would arrange this money.

Government Islamia Higher Secondary School Liaquat Bagh Principal Izhar-ul-Hasan told ‘The News’ that we have deposited arm licence fee in DCO account. We are collecting money to purchase SMG, he said.  He said that we have hired a total of 197 security guards they are well trained. All guards have been appointed on merit basis. He said that there are a total of 400 high schools (male and female) in ‘A’ and ‘A’ plus category here in Rawalpindi district, while 92 high schools of (male and female) are in Rawalpindi city. ‘A’ category schools are around 500, while number of students in a school is around 2,000, he said.
