PESHAWAR: The members of civil society and different student organisations on Thursday condemned attack on Bacha Khan University Charsadda, asking the government to provide more security to educational institutions and expose elements behind attack on the varsity.
Led by Pakhtunkhwa Ulasi Tehreek chief Dr Said Alam Mahsud, dozens of students, activists of different civil societies and educationists staged protest rally near the Peshawar Press Club.
Bacha Khan Education Trust chief Khadim Hussain, former MPA and activist of Pakistan People’s Party Zar Ali Musazai and Taimur Kamal of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Civil Society, Tariq Afghan, Sana Ijaz and dozens of activists of Pakhtun Students Federation, Pakhtunkhwa Students Organisation and Muslim Students Federation participated in the protest.
They demanded the government to expose all the elements including planners and facilitators of terrorist attack on Bacha Khan University Charsadda.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Said Alam Mahsud said that the government should fully implement National Action Plan by taking action against all extremists and terrorist organisation. He said that innocent Pakhtuns are being killed on their soil and violent attack on educational institutions were aimed at depriving the Pakhtun children of modern education. He asked the government to reopen Bacha Khan University and provide full security to universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The CSO activist also demanded compensation and honorary awards to the students and teachers killed in the terrorist attack.
