10 NUML students to do internship in Senate

The National University of Modern Languages (NUML) and Senate of Pakistan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under ‘Parliamentary Education Programme’ initiated by the Upper House of the Parliament, says a press release.
NUML Rector Major General (r) Ziaud Din Najam and Senate Secretary Amjed Pervez Malik signed the MoU at the Parliament House here on Wednesday. Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani, chairmen of the Senate standing committees, Additional Secretary Senate Mussarat Abbas, Director General NUML Brigadier Riaz Ahmed Gondal, senators, NUML registrar and other officials attended the MoU signing ceremony.
According to the 'Parliamentary Education Programme', 10 students from NUML will be given an opportunity to work in the Upper House of the Parliament, gain hands-on experience of how legislation is done, interact with elected representatives and make vital contributions in the Senate with their knowledge and ideas.
It was mutually agreed by the two parties that the Senate of Pakistan will provide an opportunity to 10 students as internees for a period of two to six months during summer and winter vacations and a sum of Rs12,000 as stipend will also be paid to every student per month.
NUML Rector Major General (r) Ziaud Din Najam termed the accord a historic step by the Upper House of the Parliament to provide students an opportunity to work with the Pakistan’s most prestigious institution. He said that students should take advantage of the agreement to excel in life.
