Edibles among refugees distributed

PESHAWAR: The Saudi Relief Committee for Afghanistan has distributed edibles among Afghan refugees in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.A press release said that the edibles including rice, sugar, ghee, tea, dates and other necessary items were distributed among 52,500 deserving families of Afghan refugees in Peshawar, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Kohat, Haripur and Mansehra. It is pertinent to mention here that the Saudi Relief Committee for Afghanistan has distributed various packages among Afghan refugees in various parts of Pakistan since 2002.

 

Slain soldier laid to rest in Malakand

BATKHELA: A soldier, who was killed in a clash with the militants in the Buner district a day earlier, was laid to rest in his native village here on Monday. Subedar Rahim Wahid was laid to rest in a graveyard in Maikh Band village in Batkhela. People from various walks of life, including Member Provincial Assembly Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha, Brigadier Mazhar Khan of the Pakistan Army, Colonel Ayub, Assistant Commissioner Ashfaq Ahmad Khan and locals attended the funeral prayers. A contingent of soldiers presented guard of honours to the martyred soldier. Rahim Wahid was killed in a clash with the militants in an operation in Elam mountains in the Buner district.  He is survived by a widow, three sons and a daughter.

 

PTI dissidents join PPP in Malakand

BATKHELA: Dissident activists of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), including village council nazim, joined the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in Dargai area on Monday.PTI workers, including Dargai Bazaar village council nazim Mirza Khan Utmankhel along with several family members and friends quit the party and joined the PPP. The PPP leaders, including Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) and District Development Advisory Committee Chairman Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha, nazim Akram Khan, Muhammad Tayyab, Shamsher Ali Khan Haiderkhel, Sufaid Khan, Pir Qadeem Khan and others were present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, MPA Muhammad Ali Shah said the PPP was the party of poor segments of the society and believed in serving the people.
