Rawalpindi
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed the district coordination officer, Rawalpindi, to review the issue of establishment of Dumping and Transfer Station (DTS) in the women's park at Liaquat Bagh and present him a detailed report in this regard.
A senior official said that the DTS is likely to be shifted to another place measuring 6 kanals and the women's park would be restored to its original condition as the local people are perturbed over the existing situation that has deprived their women of a recreational facility.
Punjab Parliamentary Secretary Chaudhry Sarfraz Afzal visited the Rawalpindi Press Club last week during which he was briefed on the situation arising out of the establishment of DTS in the women's park.
The women's park was constructed in 2005 on two acres of land adjacent to the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) office and in front of the Rawalpindi Press Club. When the contractor of the Metro Bus Project was allowed to use the park for dumping construction material, he promised that he would reconstruct the park after completion of the mega project.
