10pc quota for S Punjab uplift: CM
Says more than Rs200b will be provided for roads, water projects

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif presided over a meeting, here Friday, to review the pace of progress of public welfare projects whereas important features of development programme for next fiscal year were also considered.
Addressing the meeting, Shahbaz Sharif said that urban and rural areas were equally benefitting from the Punjab government’s balanced policy of development and projects of billions of rupees were being carried out for progress and prosperity of rural population.
He said 10 percent extra quota had been fixed for welfare programmes in districts of southern Punjab which would benefit the people living in these areas. He said that Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme and Saaf Pani Project had also been started for progress and prosperity of rural people and funds of more than Rs200 billion would be provided during next two years for these two projects. He said the project of provision of clean drinking water would be executed on priority basis and supply of potable water to rural population would be ensured during next two years.
He said billions of rupees would be spent on the development of backward areas in next financial year. He said that journey of development of the province and prosperity of the people would be continued with commitment during next financial year as well. He said that improvement of education, health and other social sectors was among the priorities of the government and full attention would be paid to uplift of these sectors and provision of facilities to the masses.
Traders: Prominent industrialists, businessmen, bankers and economists of the country called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif here Friday and discussed various proposals for strengthening of economy, creation of job opportunities, accelerating industrial process and provision of business opportunities. The industrialists thanked the chief minister for the supply of LNG gas to industrial sector. Representative delegation of industrialists, businessmen, bankers and economists while talking to the chief minister said that due to his efforts and hard work, gas was continuously available to industries. They said Shahbaz Sharif was serving the people of the province with a vision.
Yaum-e-Takbeer: Shahbaz Sharif has said that May 28 is a very important day in the political and defence history of Pakistan as on this day, it wrote a new history by conducting nuclear tests despite all pressure. He said the whole Pakistani nation was proud of this historic achievement under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Felicitating the nation on the 18th Yaum-e-Takbeer, the chief minister said Yaum-e-Takbeer reflects national aspirations and is the day of national solidarity when Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif decided to conduct nuclear tests in order to make defence of Pakistan impregnable and he disregarded all pressure.
