BoR gets digital land record scanning system

The Sindh Board of Revenue has done away with the practice of microfilming land records, which was in practice for the past 35 years, as the department has finally introduced a digital scanning unit for storing real estate records. 

In this regard, Sindh Revenue Minister Makhdoom Jamil-uz-Zaman on Friday inaugurated the digital scanning unit at the Sindh Board of Revenue.  

Speaking on the occasion, the provincial minister said the Sindh government had conceived the idea of launching the digital scanning unit for preserving records pertaining to land and real estate in the best of manner.

By introducing digital scanning, the records pertaining to property and land would be effectively saved.

He said the system of digital scanning would potentially eliminate corruption in land record cases, while people would be facilitated with provision of speedy record keeping services.

He added that the citizens would be able to get attested copy of the record of their property in just half an hour.

The minister said such digital scanning units would be introduced in every divisional headquarters of the province.

According to him, around 35,000 pending files pertaining to the land revenue record have been preserved under the digital scanning system. He also said the citizens would be able to get documents pertaining to their property in just three days instead of several weeks, which had become a normal practice in the old system.
