Six activists killed in Sukkur clashes

SUKKUR: Six people, including two PPP local leaders and a Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party (STP) leader, were killed in different clashes on Monday.

Reports said heated debate developed between Syed Mahboob Shah of STP and local PPP leader and member of district council Dr Shamus Shoro at Din-ul-Shah Colony in Mirpur Bathoro over a minor issue. This led to an exchange of firing in which STP local leader Syed Mahboob Shah, Shahzad Shoro and his brother PPP Zila Council member Dr Shamus Shoro were killed. Reports said the incident created panic and fear and trade and business activities were suspended and there was complete shutter down.

Police rushed to the crime scene, overcame the firing and deployed police at sensitive points. The police also arrested Syed Zain Shah and registered an FIR against STP leader Syed Jalal and others.

Reports said the STP workers staged a protest and observed shutter down in many cities against the arrest of Zain Shah, brother of Syed Jalal Shah and registered a case. There was shutter down in Sajawal, Jatti and other cities against the killing of the local PPP leader.

Other reports said a clash developed in Larkana between two groups of Jatoi tribe in which Yasir Jatoi was killed. Parents of the deceased carried the body and staged a demonstration outside the house of Home Minister Babu Sohail Anwar Sial, demanding arrest of the killers. They later terminated their demo when the police assured them of justice.

There were reports of yet another clash in Golarchi between two groups of Mallah tribe over possession of land. The clash left Majeed Mallah killed, while Dodo, Haji and Arab Mallah were injured. In another incident, some armed man shot dead a youth Iftikhar Lasahri when he was taking tea at a hotel in Ali Abad, Jamshoro.
