LAHORE
A four-day short course on 'Public Sector Procurement Management' started at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) on Friday.
On the directions of the Punjab chief minister, the training course has been organised by Punjab Resource Management Programme (PRMP) and Planning and Development Department in collaboration with Punjab Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) and LUMS. Around 25 people, including government officers, private contractors and PPRA officials, are participating in the training session. It is aimed at enhancing the capacity of all the stakeholders involved in the procurement process and strengthening the public procurement system throughout the province to bring about transparency and facilitate national economic development through ensuring value of money in public procurements. PPRA Managing Director Ali Bahadur Qazi also attended the inaugural session of the training and highlighted the importance of PPRA rules and procedures.
He said PPRA had introduced latest amendments to the procurement rules/procedures in 2016. PRMP Deputy Programme Director Iftikhar Saleem said the second batch of four days short training on the Public Sector Procurement Management would commence from May 23 at LUMS.
