The rupee strengthened slightly on Wednesday on falling demand from importers, currency dealers said. In the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee gained eight paisas and ended higher at 104.78 as compared to Tuesday's closing of 104.70. Dealers said that the local currency tracked nominal gains both due to slowdown in the demand and ample dollar inflows to cater to the requirements of importers.
