IEP-RIC council prepares three-year road map

Islamabad: Institution Engineers Pakistan Rawalpindi-Islamabad chapter (IEP-RIC) at its Local Council’s meeting held here prepared a three-year road map to develop its linkage with Academia, Industries and NGOs to promote professional development of young engineers, through short-courses, lectures series and conferences.

The meeting, presided over by IEP-RIC Chairman Hafiz M. Ehsan Qazi, decided to form ‘Knowledge corridor’, establish ‘IEP Student Chapter’ at the universities, promote national and international collaboration and enhance their membership.

Briefing the media about the Council’s decisions, Engr. Arjumund A. Shaikh said they have prepared a compressive and pro-active plan to augment capabilities of the young engineers, enabling them to play their productive role in the country’s socio-economic development.

They will lay special focus on developing linkages with Industry and Policy-Institutes to broaden technological and educational landscape, inspiring and motivating young engineers bringing them at the mainstream of the national development.

The local IEP wanted to play its elderly role in transferring knowledge and skill to the young lot. Their career and professional development is the main task, he added.

Arjumund Shaikh further said they will utilize all available resources for career professional development, while seeking the support of other relevant bodies for the purpose.

The recently constituted Young Engineers Forum (YEF) was being activated so that it could act as major player in achieving future targets of engineers’ welfare and their profession development.

It was also decided to launch short courses for enhancing their professional capabilities. A committee comprising Engr. Dr. Atta Ullah Shah, Engr Dr Nasir and Engr. Cap Najam was also formed to implement the plan.
