So far, you would have seen the government rank the country’s higher education institutions only.

But now, a plan is on the anvil to introduce a mechanism to evaluate the performance of the nationwide boards of intermediate and secondary education every year and assign them a rating to the information of stakeholders, including students.

During a Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education function here on Thursday, Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training Muhammad Balighur Rehman disclosed that the national BISE ranking system would be in place very soon.

He, however, didn’t go into details.

During the visit, the minister examined the one window operation system, inaugurated a laboratory and interacted with the principals of different educational institutions undergoing training there.

He later inaugurated the FBISE web portal system.

FIBSE chairman Dr. Ikram Ali Malik briefed the minister about the plan to modernise the organisation.

He said the FBISE was building the capacity of teachers, paper setters, exam supervisory and assessment staff through training workshops to ensure the competency- based examinations, and monitoring and doing academic audit of the affiliated educational institutions through GIS mapping and IT-based student feedback.

The chairman said complete automation of system was under way to ensure safe, secure and reliable pre- and post-examination processes.

He also said work was under way to revamp examination system.

The minister commended the efforts of the chairman and his team for improving the FBISE system.

He said the FBISE was the first educational board in the country to introduce the system of one window operation, a move highly admirable.
