A large number of cricket lovers in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad celebrated the victory of Islamabad United with dancing, fireworks and aerial firing late Tuesday night.

Islamabad United defeated Quetta Gladiators in the final match of first season of Pakistan Super League by 6 wickets in a packed Dubai International Stadium last night.

After the match, the cricket lovers came out on roads, started dancing and raised slogans in favour of Islamabad United. Some cricket lovers resorted to aerial firing in Dhoke Khabba, Mohallah Naik Alam, Ratta, Waris Khan and Jamia Masjid Road. Similarly, young guys gathered at Jinnah Super Market, Super Market and Aabpara in Islamabad to celebrate the victory of Misbah Eleven. The cricket lovers also distributed sweets.

The residents of localities arranged big screens to watch Pakistan Super League (PSL) final match between Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators.

Talking to ‘The News,’ cricket lovers appreciated the PSL and hoped the next season would be held in the country.

Muhammad Waseem said, “All teams performed well but being the resident of Rawalpindi I am happy on the win of Islamabad United.” Some of the big names did not perform well but the event was worth seeing, he said.

Imran Satti, a cricket lover, said that the PSL has proved that Pakistanis are peaceful people and "we could arrange all games in a peaceful manner." "We enjoyed all matches of PSL like the matches of World Cup," he said.

All players, national and international, were playing like a family which was a good sign, he said.

Norin Yasir, a female cricket lover, said that there was PSL fever everywhere. Not only males but females followed the PSL matches. “I am happy on the win of Islamabad United because I am living in the federal capital for years,” she said.
