KARACHI: The 4th Karachi Literature Festival is all set to start from February 15 (Friday) at the Beach Luxury Hotel, Geo News reported.
The event, which is held in collaboration with Oxford University Press (OUP), has been extended to three days this year and will last till February 17.
OUP’s Amina Syed said that the Karachiites would be able to see the world- renowned literatures. Literary discussions, workshops and Mushairas will galore the festival, she said.
Co-founder of literature festival, Asif Farrukhi said that the emerging literary figures along with the seniors would also participate in thoughtful discussions. Besides, children literature festival will also be part of the show.
Legendary classical dancer, Shima Kirmani and her group will also perform in the festival.
The festival attendance increased from around 5,000 in 2010 to 10,000 in 2011 and to 15,000 in 2012. The festival, the first of its kind in Pakistan, has been host to big names in the field of literature, including Anatol Lieven, HM Naqvi, Shobhaa De, Mohsin Hamid, Mohammed Hanif and Vikram Seth.
