Litigant’s thrashing by lawyer in court protested
MARDAN: Dozens of relatives of a man who was allegedly thrashed by a senior lawyer inside a court staged protest here Monday against the lawyer, the senior civil judge and the police.
The protesters were led by Jehanzeb, a resident of Lundkhwar village in Mardan district and brother of the victim. The protesters chanted slogans against the lawyer Ameer Sultan Safi and
urged the chief justice of Pakistan to take notice of the matter.
The protestors were holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans highlighting their demands.Talking to the media, Jehanzeb said he had a land dispute with a brother of the lawyer Ameer Sultan Safi.
He added that the case was being heard in the court of MBR-1 judge Ikramullah Khan.Jehanzeb recalled that on April 25 he was in the court where the said lawyer was present along with his two cousins, an assistant, and other lawyers.
He told the media that during the court proceedings, lawyer Ameer Sultan Safi got angry and started thrashing his brother Javed Khan.He explained that later he shifted his brother to the District Headquarters Hospital in Mardan for treatment, but the police was not ready to register the first information report (FIR) against the lawyer. He added that later the police registered the report in daily diary.
He alleged that the police put his brother in the lock-up. He added that on the other day they submitted a bail application in the court of Senior Civil Judge Asim Riaz.He alleged that the judge used delaying tactics and favoured the lawyer.
The man said that the police also registered a fake case against his brother and favoured the lawyer. He said that an inquiry of fake “Girdawari” of lands had been pending against the said lawyer in a court for the last one and a half years, but the court was delaying the inquiry. He alleged that Ameer Sultan Safi was pressuring judiciary and police.
The man claimed that Peshawar High Court (PHC) has rejected all the transfer deeds presented by Ameer Sultan Safi. He asked the chief justice of Pakistan to take action in this connection and provide him justice.
