Seminar on club licensing today

KARACHI: Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) will hold a club licensing seminar here on Friday (today) under the supervision of Shahid Khokhar, head of club licensing and league development.

The PFF said on Thursday that the representatives of all the top-tier and second-tier clubs and departments have been invited to the seminar.Under the rules of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), a club which does not fulfill licensing requirements will not be able to feature in the AFC Cup.

“The club licensing is the only way forward for clubs. It is the best tool for club development,” Shahid said. After the seminar, which will be hosted by Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) at its headquarters, managers meeting in connection with the National Football Challenge Cup will also be held. The event will begin here at the KPT Stadium and All Brothers Club Ground, Malir, from Saturday (tomorrow).

A PFF official told this correspondent that the draws for the event would also be unveiled during the managers meeting which would also be attended by the technical officials of the event.The PFF Director Technical Shehzad Anwar and Director Competitions Sajjad Mehmood will conduct the managers meeting.

He said that as many as 24 outfits would be part of the Challenge Cup which would be divided into eight groups of three teams each. The leading side from each group will progress to the quarter-finals. The competitions will last till May 10. The PFF also announced that the prize money for National Challenge Cup would be Rs2.5 million.
