Islamabad: The Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) of the Embassy of Japan in Islamabad, Takashi Harada and the President of the English Speaking Union (ESU) Islamabad Chapter, Khalid Malik, hosted the ‘Easter Dinner’ at the later’s residence on Sunday.
It was indeed a nice gesture to promote inter-faith tolerance and harmony and the guests included the followers of different faiths, including Muslims, Christians and probably some Buddhists as well.
The hosts warmly welcomed the prominent Christian social worker and political activist couple, Joseph Diyal and Naila J. Diyal at the reception, who were the special guests invited for the event.
As the function was co-hosted by the Japanese DCM, there was a thick presence of Japanese nationals serving with the Embassy and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JAICA). Besides exchanging Easter greetings, the discussion between the guests encompassed social and political issues as well as the regional political and security situation.
The foreign guests at the reception were eager to learn about the political system and the possible outcome of the forthcoming general elections in the country as well as the prevailing political scenario in the backdrop of the recent Senate Chairman elections.
Other prominent guests present on the occasion included the Additional Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Zaheer Aslam Janjua, the Special Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs Shah Jamal, Kazuho Ujiie, Representative of JAICA, and Brigadier (r) Sardar Sajjad Hussain.
