South Asian Int’l Wushu crown for Pak Greens

LAHORE: Pakistan Greens won 4th South Asian International Wushu Championship 2018 that concluded here on Monday. Afghanistan grabbed second position while Pakistan Whites got third position after 4-day mega event.

At the concluding ceremony Secretary Sports Amir Jan and District Sports officer Sameer Ahmed Syed were the guest sof honours. Divisional Sports officer Nadeem Qaiser, District sports officer Tanveer Abbas, Rehan Roshan were also present on the occasion. Pakistan Greens overall grabbed eight gold medals, six silver medals and four bronze medals. Afghanistan got 2nd position with five gold medals, seven silver and nine bronze medals. Pakistan Whites on third position had three gold medals, four silver medals and five bronze medals.

On the last day -65 Kg competiton was held, in which Pakistan Whites’ Abdul Latif won gold medal, Abdul Habib of Afghanistan won silver, Sri Lankan K.W Alen and Syed of Iran won bronze medals.

In -70 Kg, Nusrat Habibi of Afghanistan won gold, Ramesh of Sri Lanka won silver; Saddam of Iran and Noorullah of Pakistan Whites won bronze medals. In 75 Kg Pakistan Greens Maaz Khan won gold medal, Pakistan Whites’ Teimur Javed won silver medal, Muhammad Asif of Iran and Murtaza of Afghanistan won bronze medals. In 80 kig, Irshad Ahmed of Afghanistan won gold, Pakistan Greens Alamgir Khan silver medals.

In 85kg Pakistan Greens Muhammad Azam Khan won gold medals, Murtaza of Afghanistan won Silver medals. In 90kg Pakistan whites’ Rashid won gold, Khalid of Afghanistan won silver medals. In open weight Pakistan Whites’ Mohsin Chattha won gold and Salahudin won silver Medal.

‘Pakistan has bright future in wushu’: Secretary Sports Punjab Aamir Jan said Sports Board Punjab (SBP) will continue to provide a suitable platform to talented youngsters of the province; he said this while addressing the prize distribution ceremony of 4th South Asian International Wushu Championship at Nishtar Park Sports Complex Gymnasium Hall on Sunday evening.

DC Lahore Sumair Ahmed Syed, Deputy Director Hafeez Bhatti, DSO Nadim Qaiser, Administrator Gymnasium Hall Mustafa Shah and Pakistan Wushu Federation (PWF) officials were also present on this occasion. DC Lahore Sumair Ahmed Syed also presented a shield to Secretary Sports Punjab, who also witnessed the march past on this occasion.

Afghanistan, Iran, Sri Lanka, Pakistan Greens, and Pakistan Whites were the participating teams of the event.Aamir Jan witnessed the exciting competitions of 5-team championship for some time and appreciated the skills of male and female wushu players. Later, Aamir Jan distributed prizes among the prominent performers of the event.

Addressing the concluding ceremony, Aamir Jan said Sports Board Punjab has always encouraged the talented players and will continue this practice in future.
