Seminar on World Tuberculosis Day
LAHORE: The World Health Organization (WHO) has ranked Pakistan fifth among Tuberculosis (TB) high-burden countries worldwide, with some 5,10,000 registered TB cases and some 15,000 developing drug resistant TB cases every year.
According to a press release, Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Center organised a seminar on Thursday to observe World Tuberculosis Day to sensitise public about TB.
A large number of consultants, paramedical staff and pharmacists attended the seminar. Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI) Consultant Pulmonologist Dr Javed Hayat Khan said, “PKLI aims to accelerate efforts to eradicate TB epidemic in Pakistan. Following the theme of World TB Day 2018 - “Wanted: Leaders for a TB-free world” - PKLI is set to assume a leading role in spreading awareness among people.” Addressing the seminar, Dr Javed highlighted the significance World TB Day. He delivered a detailed presentation on the causes, symptoms, prevention and treatment of the disease.
