KARACHI: Attempts by some mutual friends to bring about a ceasefire between former Sindh home minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza and the PPP leadership have failed.
Sources in the PPP told The News all attempts by some mutual friends to broker a ceasefire had drawn a blank. It is learnt some mutual friends took the initiative and first contacted Dr Mirza’s wife and former National Assembly Speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza, their son MPA Hasnain Mirza and a former bureaucrat, also a close relative of Dr. Mirza, for reconciliation but they refused.
According to sources, Mirza’s close friend Nadir Magsi also met Dr. Mirza on Monday this week and a Karachi businessman on Tuesday, to no avail. Senator Saeed Ghani of the PPP, however, told The News that Zardari had not tasked any person with any reconciliatory bid.
